The Little Brick Church is used throughout the year as a gathering place for community members. It is a historic structure that now requires critical repairs and a roof replacement. The City of Oneonta has few places for people to gather, so without a maintained Little Brick Church, residents will seek opportunities outside the community.

This project from focuses on playground safety for multiple reasons. The existing playground is located across from a busy street and next to both fire and police department entrances to the Municipal Building. Children must cross a busy street to enter the playground, and police and fire department emergency vehicles continuously come and go from the complex for emergency calls , which adds to the dangerous conditions. In addition, the playground is not ADA compliant or accessible, and it lacks proper fall protection surfacing under the playground equipment.
