OUR COMMUNITIES
Giving back to the communities where we live and work is an integral part of who we are. Through charitable contributions, associate volunteerism and nonprofit partnerships, we’ve invested in our communities since our inception. When our people and communities are strong, so are we.
Community Engagement
As a home improvement company, Lowe’s is uniquely suited to make an impact where it counts: our homes. We support safe and affordable housing initiatives by working with organizations like Habitat for Humanity International, Rebuilding Together and other nonprofit partners to identify and address critical needs across our communities.
For example, since 2003, Lowe's has contributed more than $65 million to Habitat for Humanity International, including underwriting the Women Build program, International Women Build Week and sponsoring Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization program. Additionally, our Lowe’s Heroes have volunteered at home builds for more than 17,000 Habitat families around the country.

Every day, the shortage in the skilled trades workforce becomes more acute. Studies show that 85% of contractors report trouble finding skilled workersi, and an estimated 546,000 new skilled tradespeople will be needed to meet demand in 2023 aloneii.
Recognizing this as a critical issue across our nation, the Lowe's Foundation has launched the Gable Grants program - a 5-year, $50 million commitment to train 50,000 job-ready skilled tradespeople to support our communities for the long term.
Additionally, Lowe’s partners with Goodwill, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), SkillsUSA, and other nonprofit organizations that provide educational and training programs and spark interest in skilled trades as a career opportunity.
Lowe's is also proud to offer it’s Track to the Trades program, a workforce development initiative providing tuition-free education to associates for an opportunity to learn skills and earn certifications needed to jump start a career in the trades and a network of new talent for professionals in the industry.

Lowe's support for communities impacted by disaster goes far beyond cleanup and recovery supplies. Lowe's partners with the American Red Cross, Reach Out WorldWide, Operation BBQ Relief, Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH), VOAD, St. Bernard Project and others. We do so to not only respond to immediate needs, but to also support impacted areas with rebuilding efforts in the months and years to come.
For example, Lowe’s donated nearly $3 million and worked with many of these partners to provide shelter, food, relief and critically needed supplies to those affected by Hurricane Ida in September 2021. Lowe’s hosted 20 drive-through store bucket brigade events and donated more than 14,000 disaster relief buckets to help affected communities recover from Ida.
Year-round, Lowe’s has a core team focused on disasters and how the company can better prepare and respond when needed. In 2021, we deployed our new Tool Rental Disaster Response Trailer for the first time. This mobile unit is staged outside of Lowe’s stores and stocked with an assortment of tools and equipment to help people get safely back into their homes and get their businesses up and running.

Lowe’s has a rich heritage in honoring military members and veterans through funding and volunteer projects. Our partners include United Service Organizations (USO), American Veterans (AMVETS), Operation FINALLY HOME and others.
We honor our military every day through our H.O.M.E. program. In addition, we support organizations that provide military members and veterans with safe, affordable housing, workforce training and more.
We also proudly offer a Lowe’s Military Discount for eligible purchases every day to active military personnel and veterans.

We are passionate about serving our communities and encourage our associates to support the neighborhoods where they live and work.
Through our Lowe’s Heroes program, we allocate funding to each U.S. and Canadian store for a project in their community that associates can complete together. In addition, we provide “Give Back Time” encouraging associates to take a day out of the year to volunteer with an organization that’s important to them.
Our team is also dedicated to helping each other in times of need. Our Lowe’s Employee Relief Fund, made possible through associate donations and company matching, supports associates in times of significant, unforeseen financial hardship.
