Nearly two weeks after Hurricane Harvey, the Lowe’s store in the Meyerland area of Houston reopens its doors to support customers and the community

Nearly two weeks and two feet of water later, the Lowe’s store in the Meyerland area of Houston, Texas, has reopened its doors.

meyerlandStore-before-265-1It’s been a long road to recovery for the store since Hurricane Harvey hit. Employees have worked almost around the clock to remove damaged product and debris, clean the store, make repairs and move new merchandise in, all with the goal of reopening as soon as possible for customers. The day has come and the store is reopening in a big way.In addition to offering those critical products and supplies needed after a major storm like Harvey, the store had other items and events for the reopening to support customers and the community. Charging stations were set up in the parking lot for people to plug in their devices. A mold cleanup expert was onsite to advise customers on managing and removing mold in their homes and an insurance rep was also present.

The buckets were filled with critical disaster recovery supplies like bleach, cleaning gloves and masks, bottled water, sponges and trash bags. And this store isn’t the only Lowe’s location assembling and distributing buckets. Take a look at what employees at Lowe’s customer support center in Mooresville, North Carolina, are up to.

Also as part of the reopening, a hot meal was served at the store and customers got T-shirts adorned with the hashtag #TexasStrong.

It was big day for this Lowe’s store, its employees and customers– and it was a big step forward in the journey toward recovery and normalcy.

Here are some photos of the reopening activities and the distribution of relief buckets:
