South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation (NDC) is striving to create a public pocket park and community garden on an underutilized vacant lot. This area of South Boston lacks open space and trees, so transforming this lot into an asset will provide an environmental improvement for the neighborhood and gardening access to low-income residents. The project would include cedar garden planters for community gardeners and stone dust paths for ADA accessible access. NDC will enlist volunteers from the community to help with the process to give them a sense of ownership.

Westbrook High School teaches environmental science and sustainable practices, but the building's interior tells a contradictory story. This project would create a greenhouse initiative to support curriculum addressing community needs and implementing sustainable practices from tilling soil and planting seeds to harvesting and preparing meals. Students will experience hands-on, project based learning and will be able to take food home to help feed their families, many of whom are food insecure and living below the poverty line.

The Wakefield Foundation exists to preserve and restore the former Wakefield High School Building, built in 1919. The organization also preserves local history, provides educational opportunities, and offers programs and activities for the Wakefield community and surrounding areas. The Foundation's plan is to increase accessibility to its second-floor auditorium by adding a restroom to better serve people with disabilities and older patrons. The auditorium supports events such as performances, weddings , receptions, classes and community events and meetings.

Worcester Common Ground works to promote and develop permanent and sustainable improvement in underserved neighborhoods of Central Worcester through affordable housing, community activism and economic development. This project would add a community room for WCG's low-income neighbors of all ages, where they could host a birthday party for their children or have a safe space to go outside of their home. For children, this space will serve as an after-school hangout space or a place where kids can complete their homework or meet for group projects.
