A private nonprofit that provides educational, recreational, and social service opportunities to neighborhood residents seeks assistance in developing a village of tiny, energy-efficient homes to house those in need, with a specific focus on establishing a tool lending library stocked with tools and resources for members of the neighborhood to use to maintain or improve their homes, gardens or yards. Area Lowe’s stores helped kick start the program by building the first two homes in the village.

A Habitat for Humanity chapter is hosting an event on September 11 as a day of service and remembrance to honor 9/11’s first responders, veterans, their families and those who went into service because of what happened on that day 20 years ago. The chapter wishes to repair and modify the homes of veterans, first responders and their families, with the goal of helping keep them in place in their homes, preventing displacement and potential homelessness among those who have served our country.
