The center provides emergency services to men, women and children facing unmet basic needs and emergency situations as well as affordable housing solutions for the homeless. As a food, clothing, diaper and household items distribution center and mail drop location for the homeless, the improvements will help the center to continue to address the critical needs of the community.

Anchor Ridge has been serving the North Wilkesboro and greater Wilkes County area since 2012, and its mission is to fight poverty by providing hungry families with food, basic hygiene items, household goods, and home repair supplies. Located in one of the original Lowe's distribution centers, Anchor Ridge serves thousands of people on a monthly basis throughout the Appalachian Mountain region. Anchor Ridge's Kid's Club program, serving hundreds of local Wilkes County kids on a monthly basis also operates from this facility.

The new space will accommodate 200 hungry men, women, and children each day with a warm meal, safety, and respite from the trauma of life on the street.

A community wishes to build a playground area in a low-income housing complex that will provide a place for children to play and help bridge the gap in youth obesity, self-esteem and anxiety issues, among the many other benefits that play brings to participating youths. The community has very limited access to playground equipment and families may lack transportation to take their children to another city park or gym. The space will foster a healthy lifestyle and help steer children from excess screen time or undesired activities.
