FAQs
Lowe’s Hometowns is a five-year, $100 million investment focused on rebuilding and revitalizing communities across the country. Each year from 2022 through 2026, consumers are given the opportunity to nominate a community space in their hometown – such as a neighborhood garden, park or community center – to receive a physical improvement or renovation. Lowe’s will select and complete 100 of these projects per year in partnership with local nonprofits, our store associates and community volunteers. Additionally, as part of Lowe’s Hometowns, Lowe’s stores and support centers will select and complete nearly 1,700 smaller projects in their local communities through product donations and associate volunteerism. Lowe’s Hometowns is the company's largest-ever commitment of its kind and builds on its 100+ year history of giving back to the communities it serves.
This Program is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, who are at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of nomination. For more information regarding eligibility, please reference the program terms and conditions.
The grant program nomination period is January 23, 2023 at 12:00am ET – February 20, 2023 at 11:59pm ET.
Any type of project that involves the physical improvement or renovation of a community space is eligible. All grants must go to a local nonprofit that is willing and able to take on the project. Past nominations have included:
- Community Resources/Space (e.g. park, senior citizen center, youth center, etc.);
- Safe Affordable Housing (e.g. critical repairs for shelters, block of homes, accessible home needs, etc.);
- Cultural Preservation (e.g. theatre or memorial renovation, etc.);
- Area Revitalization (e.g. a new playground at a community park, community garden, renovations to downtown areas, etc.);
- Skilled Trades Education initiatives (e.g. mobile training programs, high school vocational, etc.)
You may nominate as many projects as you like. Please do not enter more than one nomination per project. Nominating a project multiple times will not increase the likelihood of a project being selected.
At the conclusion of the nomination window, Lowe’s and its third-party vendor partner review all nominations against a pre-determined set of criteria, including impact, need, feasibility and inspiration and select 200 project Finalists. Finalists are then contacted directly to confirm they’d like to move forward in the selection process as well as provide additional details about the project. Program judges review the submitted information for each of the 200 Finalists and makes the selection of the final 100 grantees.
Grant amounts are determined based on numerous factors, including the amount requested by the nominator, information provided by the local nonprofit aligned to the project, and status of the project.
Yes, Lowe’s associates are eligible – and encouraged! – to nominate projects in their hometowns.
