Lowe’s organized community relief events in four North Carolina cities to assist those impacted by the storm

Less than seven days after Florence made landfall in the Carolinas as a Cat 1 hurricane, Lowe’s hosted four community relief events to help customers and associates get back on their feet.

The events were set up in the parking lots of Lowe’s stores located in four North Carolina cities affected by the storm: New Bern, Jacksonville, and two locations in Wilmington.

At all four stores, Lowe’s provided a total of 2,000 hot meals and distributed nearly 6,000 Lowe’s buckets packed with critical relief supplies to these local communities. The disaster relief buckets – which were packed by Lowe’s corporate employees in preparation for hurricane season – contained items like sponges, household cleaner, trash bags and dust masks. Thousands of residents in all these communities received assistance.

Nick Carnevali came to the South Wilmington community event after he said his son’s home was damaged by Florence.

Lowe’s has been fantastic in all they’ve been doing, especially things like this in the community.

Tatyuana Williams, another Lowe’s customer, received a bucket of supplies to help her family begin to recover.

“Right now, being without power, we need food and water,” she said. “I’m very thankful Lowe’s came out together, as a community, to help those in need.”

Lowe’s continues to look for ways to support and help both customers and associates impacted by Florence. The company plans to host several more community events in other cities and store locations across the affected area.
