Through community leadership and action, Lowe’s is working with Habitat for Humanity (the Charlotte and Our Towns affiliates, specifically) to ignite The Charlotte Impact Project. The $1 million gift from Lowe’s made as part of the project will allow Habitat to build and/or critically repair more than 20 homes in Charlotte and surrounding areas.

218-2.jpgThe first Habitat for Humanity home of 2018 broke ground on Thursday, Jan. 25, where 16 Lowe’s employees, Americorps NCCC members and soon-to-be new homeowners, Tyre and Latisha Wallace, completed the home’s framing. The Wallaces look forward to becoming first-time homeowners and settling in with their four children this spring.

The Charlotte Impact Project will significantly increase affordable housing stock in the Charlotte community, empowering more families to attain economic mobility. Lowe’s will contribute more than 20,000 hours of volunteer labor throughout the course of three large-scale neighborhood projects this year. Whether you are part of a group, or want to contribute as an individual, you too can sign up to volunteer.
