Lowe's is turning heads with "surprising" New York Fashion Week collaboration

Is it surprising that Lowe’s has partnered with visionary fashion designers for New York Fashion Week?

Sure. And that’s part of the appeal.

“If it’s surprising, I’m glad,” said Jason Wu, one of the three fashion designers teaming up with Lowe’s to bring New York Fashion Week home. “Fashion has always been a little more closed off – its own world. I’ve worked my entire career to break down that barrier.”

In this special collaboration, Lowe’s is helping Jason Wu, Rebecca Minkoff and Christian Siriano, build and style their runway show sets – which will be streamed on Lowe’s Twitter – using products anyone can find at Lowe’s.

And styling our homes has never been more in vogue given the amount of time we’re all spending in them.

“There is glamour in everything; it’s about what you do with the materials you’re given,” Wu said.

During a virtual chat, Minkoff said she was surprised at the amount of options to choose from on the Lowe’s website as she curated her aesthetic.

Siriano echoed that sentiment and spoke about the fun opportunity to work within the intersection of home and style.

“I’ve always been inspired by the interior world. I think it’s very similar to fashion, we play with textiles and texture and things that make us feel something,” Siriano said. “I’m excited. This has been a really cool partnership and it came at a very perfect time.”

In addition to the Lowe’s products you’ll see on the runway show set, each designer curated a home décor “edit,” drawing on their personal meanings of home.

Jason’s Tulum-inspired edit features elements and products that make anyone’s space feel like a tropical retreat and bring the outdoors in, including plant-based materials such as the bamboo used to create this HomeRoots Dish Rack and the bold, tropical-inspired hues in this Surya Teori Mustard Pillow. See how his product selections come to life on the runway during his show on September 13 at 5:00 p.m. ET on @Lowes.

Rebecca Minkoff – Shop Here

For Rebecca, home goes beyond four walls, so she wanted to pay homage to her beloved true home: New York City. Like the city itself, Rebecca’s handpicked home edit is all about details and embellishments, where she focused on showcasing the unexpected in everyday items – from the tassels on the Surya Fiona Pillow to the pop of gold on an Umbra Brass Picture Frame. Don’t miss Rebecca’s NYFW Show on September 15 at 9:30 p.m. ET on @Lowes to see how her picks will be incorporated on the runway.

Christian Siriano – Shop Here

Shape and color were top of mind for Christian when curating his Lowe’s home edit. He was inspired by adding glamour to the everyday and helping people utilize design as a means for self-expression. Christian selected a range of unique accent pieces such as pentagonal cubes that can be used on a coffee table or desk and metallic-threaded pillows. Tune in to his show on September 17 at 2:00 p.m. ET on @Lowes to discover how his selections create the perfect backdrop for his unique runway.
