One of the easiest ways to save a few bucks on your energy bill is simply by using the right products. And ENERGY STAR products are a simple and smart way to start.

ENERGY STAR is the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) government-backed program for energy efficiency and this year, Lowe’s was proud to receive ENERGY STAR’s Partner of the Year Award. In 2019, the company offered nearly 30,000 ENERGY STAR rated products in-store and online, giving customers ample ways to save money and energy.

Smart Thermostat

If you’re the kind who prefers to set it and forget it, an ENERGY STAR certified smart thermostat might be a good energy-saving option for you. Plus, big bucks go into heating and cooling your home every year; the average American household spends more than $900. Most smart thermostats learn what temperature you like and set a schedule that automatically adjusts when you’re asleep or away. Many provide home energy use data so you can track and manage your settings, and you’ll be able to control it all remotely through your smartphone.

Lighting

Another big energy suck in your home? Your lights. In fact, if every family in the U.S. replaced just one light bulb with one that has earned the ENERGY STAR certification, it would save enough energy to light 3.5 million homes for one year and save more than $570 million in annual energy costs. The program’s LED bulbs are certified to deliver:

  • Highest quality performance
  • Just the right brightness and color
  • Big energy savings – will last 13+ years

Refrigerator

Don’t forget about that garage or basement fridge! If you have an older refrigerator in your garage or basement, it could be costing you upwards of $125 per year to run it. Consider an ENERGY STAR rated fridge for the garage or kitchen, they’re rated 9% more energy-efficient than models that meet the federal minimum energy efficiency standard.
