Spring 2021 is almost here, and that means a new round of seasonal hiring at Lowe’s. With sunny weather on the horizon, customers across America will be diving into home improvement projects, and we’re looking for great new associates to guide them. That’s why this spring, Lowe’s is your home for a career kickstart.
Spring hire is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door with a Fortune 50™ company and learn what it means to put on a Lowe's vest and join our team. Seasonal associates enjoy various scheduling options in a fast-paced retail environment — and if you’re interested, many seasonal associates transition into permanent roles with Lowe’s. Whether you’re ready to explore your long-term potential or earn and grow for a season, here’s everything you need to know about spring hire at Lowe’s.
FIND YOUR FIT
Spring hire at Lowe’s is designed to boost our staff during a busy season and ensure we can provide every customer with the care and attention they expect when they walk through our doors.
Spring associates are eligible to work between 10 and 39 hours per week, and your schedule will depend on your availability and performance. Open availability (including weekends) is preferred for seasonal hires, but not required. As far as shifts go, you can expect to work in 4- or 8-hour periods, with half-hour and hour-long lunch breaks (or corresponding breaks for evening/overnight shifts). Seasonal roles fall into two categories: Seasonal Retail Associates and Seasonal Stockers/Receivers.
- As a Seasonal Retail Associate, you'll focus on providing Lowe's customers with the products and knowledge they need to accomplish their home improvement goals. Whether on the sales floor or as a Cashier at checkout, you'll use your impeccable customer service skills and energetic problem-solving to ensure every customer looks forward to their next trip to Lowe's.
- As a Seasonal Stocker & Receiver, you'll work early mornings, evenings, or overnight to help us provide the best products and value to Lowe's customers. These associates unload merchandise from incoming freight and move it to the sales floor and stocking departments, ensuring other team members and customers have the products they need throughout the store.
The fastest and easiest way to apply is to visit our Spring Jobs page — just scroll down, follow the “Explore” buttons next to the job descriptions, and enter your location to find openings near you.
In addition to applying online, some Lowe’s stores will also be hosting walk-in hiring events. Walk-in hiring events do not require you to apply online beforehand, although that does speed up the process. Stay informed about hiring events in your area by following your local Lowe’s on social media, and don’t forget to sign up for the Lowe’s Talent Community — as a member of the Talent Community, you’ll be automatically notified of events and job openings in your area. Lastly, keep eyes and ears open for hiring event announcements next time you head to Lowe’s for a little home improvement shopping!
SHOW UP SAFELY
Whether you’re visiting Lowe’s for a scheduled interview or attending a walk-in hiring event, keeping our candidates, customers, and associates safe this spring is our number one priority.
Before you go, perform a self-check for any Covid-19 symptoms. If you feel sick, have tested positive, or come into contact with a positive person in the last two weeks, please stay home. Don’t worry — spring hire is a rolling event, and we’d love to have you return for your interview when you’re well again in a few weeks!
Walk-in hiring events will use an electronic sign-in system to minimize your waiting time and time spent inside the store. Using your phone camera, you’ll scan a barcode and fill out the electronic form that pops up.
Once inside the store, you’ll be required to wear a mask and maintain a distance of six feet from your interviewer (or sit behind a plexiglass partition if dimensions do not allow for distancing). The interview rooms will be cleaned and disinfected regularly, and feel free to use the hand sanitizers available around the store.
ROCKING YOUR INTERVIEW
Here’s a tip as you prepare for your interview, courtesy of Lowe’s Store Manager Buffie Johnson:
"Our interviews structured toward customers. Think ahead of time about your customer service mindset! How will you be truly customer-focused? How do you recognize the needs of those around you, and when have you gone out of your way to help someone with a task?"
Buffie also stresses the importance of knowing your availability upfront and being completely transparent with your interviewer about your schedule.
MAKING OUR HOME YOURS
Joining Lowe’s as a seasonal associate is a great way to introduce yourself to the Lowe’s life, but it doesn’t have to stop when spring turns into summer. In fact, nearly 40% of seasonal associates go on to permanent full- or part-time roles, and many Lowe’s Store Managers began as seasonal associates.
No matter which department you’re hired for, if you see a future for yourself at Lowe’s (and we hope you do), make a point to explore departments and roles around the store. As a permanent associate, you’ll have access to great benefits, learning and development opportunities, and more.
Apply to your local Lowe’s today, and make our home yours for spring and beyond.
