Safe Haven Recovery Drop-In Center
An organization is working to complete a space for those in recovery from substance abuse and addiction that will serve as a drop-in center and group meeting place — something the community is currently lacking. The organization was gifted a house intended for this purpose, and it seeks assistance in finishing renovations.
Why It Matters
Safe Haven will be able to serve roughly 1,000 people if they can get this project completed. Many in this West Virginia community are struggling with addictions, depression and trauma. The organization would like to see their skilled para-professionals work in a functional space to help those in need.
The Impact
“Many family members in all of our families have had their lives touched by addiction,” wrote project nominator Cathy Coontz-Griffin. “The Recovery Coach, Brian Kennedy, also has had his life interrupted with addiction issues. This project is near and dear to our hearts.”
