Renovation of Palatka's Riverfront Amphitheater
A riverfront amphitheater that is the focal point and meeting place for gatherings, events, ceremonies, and festivals, as well as a source of pride for a close-knit community, wishes to renovate and upgrade the amphitheater with improved covering, light and sound.
Why It Matters
The only facility of its kind in the county, this amphitheater is used by a diverse group of organizers year-round. The project will be a culmination of revitalization efforts and improvements at the Riverfront Park.
The Impact
“The community is fiscally distressed and more than 40% are impoverished,” wrote project nominator and City of Palatka general services director Jonathan Griffith. “Community facilities such as the amphitheater bring the community together and further the ongoing efforts to revitalize our town.”
