IRC Salt Lake outdoor multi-use space
An International Rescue Committee chapter that provides immigration program services that aim to meet the needs of newly arrived refugees and new Americans wishes to improve and increase its services. To do so, the organization hopes to make use of an underused outdoor area, transforming it into a multi-use classroom, effectively doubling client- meeting capacity so it can serve more people than ever before.
Why It Matters
With the number of arrivals this year expected to double, IRC SLC hopes to provide these new Americans with the tools and the resources they need. Through the programs offered to clients over their first two years in their new home, newcomers are able to recover, rebuild their lives, and achieve self-sustained success, with the impact being felt for generations to come.
The Impact
“Our staff has really been wishing for a space that we can turn into an outdoor classroom. This is going to get everyone really excited for this new phase of reopening,” wrote project nominator Natalie El Deiry, IRC SLC Executive Director.
