Hope Park
A town hit with a devastating and deadly tornado that leveled neighborhoods seeks to build a memorial playground at the site of touchdown in place of the homes destroyed.
Why It Matters
The playground will honor the five children and 14 adults whose lives were lost while restoring hope to a community that has been forever affected.
The Impact
When the tornado originally hit, thousands of people showed up to help in any way they could. This park will also honor those who dropped everything to help their grieving neighbors. “I hope this park will serve as a reminder to all of us, life is short,” said Chris Pitts, whose sister and nephew were killed in the tornado.
