Exodus Missionary Outreach Church Fellowship Hall
An organization that helps the homeless, people transitioning from prison and those coming out of addiction by offering shelter, mentoring, job training, accountability and education seeks to renovate its Fellowship Hall kitchen facilities and update its appliances.
Why It Matters
Hot meals are often prepared in Exodus Community Outreach Church facility by people who traveled the very same road as those who need help getting their life back on track. Creating these relationships – showing the inmates that there is a supportive environment waiting on the outside – helps positively transform lives. Breaking bread with someone who will listen creates powerful bonds and life-changing moments.
The Impact
“Meals in this dining room bring people together across the dividing lines of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, ability, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity,” wrote project nominator Susan Smith of Exodus Homes. “In addition to weekly breakfast and lunch meals we also have many special meals for the community on holidays. This mealtime fellowship has been important in our community and a special part of my life for many years.”
We believe bringing people together over a meal is a very effective way to build relationships and foster peace in our community.
