Crossroads Village
An organization that provides women with holistic trauma-informed and gender-specific care has purchased a new space that will allow it to expand its existing programming aimed to address and decrease the high rate of reincarceration for women after release from prison. They need help completing the expansion to strengthen its offerings to women in need, especially women with mental health and substance abuse illness.
Why It Matters
Post-release, women are oftentimes met with inadequate support and a lack of a network, which compounds stress leading to relapse, homelessness and reincarceration. At Crossroads for Women, clients enter a judgment-free zone in which they are able to identify their own goals for recovery. The expansion of the space and the renovation of the targeted areas(vocational wing, family wing, kitchen, and donation center) will strengthen the crucial services provided, increase food security and ensure clients have access to necessities.
The Impact
“I am consistently reminded that Albuquerque has the friendliest and most generous people of any other town I’ve experienced,” said Crossroads board chair Sarah Jacobs. “The most amazing part about the kindness and generosity of the city is that it is in the face of adversity. In my role as the board chair, I have seen true passion and selflessness from a dedicated core of supporters who give to CRFW in volunteer hours, in-kind donations, and monetary gifts.”
